My son is more attached to his mother than me. He is 5 years old. He has been like this since he was capable of "choosing" sides. I guess it has to do with breastfeeding. My wife had him breastfeed until he wanted no more at 4 years old. It was a laborous task but we wanted it for our son, that he be the one to end the it naturally.
Sometimes, when he does a bad stuff (like showing middle finger or slamming things, etc), I would give him a strike with the belt. I believe in gentle parenting but when I need to get tough, I will. I am here to raise a strong and upright individual. This practiced worked for me though I think my father had overdone it for me. I believe I am a morally right individual.

Spending time with the parents of some of my kids classmates has been refreshing. Refreshing because we talk freely on topics like business, politics, religion, our kids, etc. Basically any topic that comes to mind.
After working from home for the longest time and never going out with my long time friends and former office work mates, I miss the casual conversations.
